THE YARD 2

What is your favorite thing about your career/company?

The ability to help people to feel better about themselves and live healthier lives.

What motivated you to start your company?

After working with a couple of gyms and experiencing some things that I didn’t agree with I decided to go off on my own. I started off only doing personal training, but after a few months of driving from client to client and to different gyms, I decided to stop doing that and start my own gym. I wanted to create an environment that was full of positivity, where everyone that came felt comfortable and not judged, but most importantly a place where they saw results. With the help of my wife we bought all the equipment I needed and turned my garage into a gym and The Yard Transformation Center was born.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

I would say my proudest accomplishment business wise has been going from my garage to a commercial location here in Whittier.

What is the best feature about your company?

The best thing about my gym is the fact that I have created an environment where people feel comfortable and not judged. They know we are here to help and encourage.

How would your friends describe you?

That’s a tough one… From what I have been told, my friends and clients have described me as social and friendly. Someone who cares and is always willing to help. Someone who is passionate and determined about accomplishing my goals and someone who doesn’t see myself above anyone else.

What are your hobbies?

I like going to classic car shows. I also like buying, fixing, and reselling classic cars. I figure that is the easiest way for me to own and enjoy every car I wanted as kid while having one pay for the next.

List two pet peeves.

Friday freeway traffic and when someone suddenly stops right in front of you as you’re walking and you almost bump into them.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years I see myself already in a second location and having a staff who can run the gym so I can focus on more ways to provide our clients with a one stop shop type of environment when comes to their fitness needs.

If you could go back in time to change one thing, what would it be?

Honestly, I wouldn’t change a single thing. Everything that has happened has let me to where I am today.

If you could share a meal with any 4 individuals, living or dead, who would they be and why?

  • My Grandpa that I never got to meet but always hear cool stories about.
  • George Barris famous custom car builder/designer, because I love classic cars and I think it would be cool to be able to have a conversation with him and ask him about all the cars he built.
  • Gary Vee because, in my opinion, the guy is a business and marketing genius that tells it like it is, so he would definitely be able to help me grow my business.
  • Jeff Cavalier because I have learned a lot from him and agree with the way he views and focuses on educating/training people. He is someone I respect and look up to in the fitness industry.

GETTING TO KNOW JASON HWANG, MOBILE PERSONAL TRAINER

JASON THE MOBILE TRAINER - 1

What is your favorite thing about your career/company?
My favorite thing about being a fitness trainer is being able to improve someone else’s life quality. When you want to improve your life’s quality, I firmly believe having a strong foundation (healthy mind & body) will be the first step that one needs to take. To share my story, strength training and proper nutrition in general made me a better person. I became more confident with myself and I started to improve on my social interactions with friends & family. By doing this, it naturally made my quality of relationships much better. And I want to share this experience with those who reach out to me. I want to let everyone know that by simply taking care of your health & wellbeing, you are able to achieve anything that you desire. Oh, and I get to meet A LOT of cool people that I gain insight and learn from.
What motivated you to start your company (a little history)
After witnessing a few key moments in the lives of some of my family members, I knew in order be in control of my future I needed to own my own business. I started working as a freelance trainer since 2015 and officially started my own business this year (2017). I have also always felt like I didn’t fit into the workplace – not because I was weird or didn’t get along with my coworkers, but I wanted to create my own culture that did not coincide with my integrity as an individual. so being my own boss and making my own rules appealed.
Another reason why started my company was to help those around me that had similar problems when they first initially started working out. The truth is, it took me countless years to figure out how to change my body composition. I had trouble losing body fat, but now I am much more knowledgeable going through years worth of trial and error. And I want to help those around me that are going through the exact same problem. I want to share with the world that building a downright incredible physique doesn’t have to be that hard without sacrificing too much of your lifestyle. Fitness is about transforming your body and living the life of your dreams. So essentially, it becomes a metaphor for how you set your own life! When you master your own body with health and nutrition, you can start achieving things in other areas of your life that you never thought it was possible.
 What is your proudest accomplishment?
I would say that my proudest accomplishment would be listening to my heart and pursuing my dreams come into reality. I knew it would’ve been easier for me if I just listened to my family’s advice and took the easier way out in regards to my career. I could’ve been working at a regular 9-5 job making decent money and being content with what I have. However, I knew my potential was far greater and I had to make a choice. I truly believe that life is too short to do something that doesn’t ignite you or from the inside. I didn’t want to be an extra in my own movie.
What is the best feature or item from your company?
My goal is to help individuals who are just starting out their fitness journey. And unlike most of the fitness programs that are out there geared towards bodybuilders and advanced lifters, I want to share with the world that you can achieve the best results without sacrificing too much of your lifestyle & nutritional preferences. My program and fitness philosophy are geared towards the general public who just want to look and feel good to go on with their life. You can achieve the best results possible training minimally.. as long as you are knowledgeable understanding the key aspects of nutrition and training.
How would your friends describe you?
I think that my friends would describe that I am responsible, driven, and understanding.
 What are your hobbies?
My hobbies include playing poker, watching and playing sports (I love basketball & football), spending time with my loved ones, and bettering myself whether that is through reading or learning from those around me.
List two pet peeves.
I don’t really have any pet peeve’s, but one thing that grind my gears are talking with someone that is inconsiderate or someone that is irrational. I don’t care if we have different views or opinions, that’s perfectly normal, but if you’re being irrational and not accepting when you’re wrong…that pisses me off.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
honestly, I can’t even picture myself or where I’ll be in the next 12 months. But one thing I know is that I’ll be helping a lot of people reach their goals whether that’s through fitness or self development. And hopefully in five years, I’ve become an influencer leaving an imprint in this industry.

If you could go back in time to change one thing, what would it be?

I told myself that I wouldn’t dwell in the past, but if I could go back in time, I just wish that I started my entrepreneurial journey and pursued my passion a lot sooner. I always had this voice inside of me that knew what was right for me,but I couldn’t take action right away. Always listen to your heart!
If you could share a meal with any 4 individuals, living or dead, who would they be?
This one’s hard. Honestly, for this type of question i will have to go with the greats. So I’ll pick two people that are already gone and two people that have great influence on me today. I would love to share a meal with Jesus, Buddha, Gary Vaynerchuk, and Lewis Howes.

CFR - 5 MEMBERS PIC
BIO: We all come from very different professional backgrounds, but have all done CrossFit for years both together and individually. We love CrossFit and wanted to bring a new facility to the area that was like no other, that promoted a healthy lifestyle, that brought together the community in a positive and supportive environment, and that inspired people of all backgrounds to challenge themselves mentally and physically.

What is your favorite thing about your company?
Our Members are number 1! We are all avid CrossFit athletes and it excites us to share its many benefits with our community, while building a member base that treats each other like family.

What motivated you to start your Cross-Fit Gym?
After years of doing CrossFit both individually and together, we all came together to start our own box because we wanted to deliver the best CrossFit experience to our community. We all come from different professional backgrounds, but our love for CrossFit unites us in a way that is truly unique. We believe our Members are number 1 and we all work hard toward providing a well-rounded health and fitness environment that is supportive and inspiring.

What is your proudest accomplishment?
Opening our doors was our very first accomplishment. It was a tough job getting the facility ready and maneuvering through the unexpected hurdles. Today, we are so proud of the community that is forming. We reached our first target membership goal in only three months, and the word is steadily spreading about our facility, coaches, programming, and community.

What is the best feature of your gym?
There really are too many to pick one, but hands down our Members are the heart and soul of our box (gym in CrossFit)! We offer an environment that promotes a healthy lifestyle, positive vibes, encouragement to reach your goals, and support when the workouts get tough. Also, our coaches are amazing! They also come from different backgrounds, but their passion for CrossFit is unrivaled. You can count on them to teach you proper technique, correct you when necessary, push you to go harder, and ensure that you get the most out of every WOD (workout of the day). Lastly, we can’t leave out our kids area which we added because we know how hard it can be to find time to work out when you have little ones. The kids love the chalkboard wall, it’s filled with fun toys, and the kids are visible at all times!

What is CrossFit?
Whether you’re a beginner or an accomplished athlete, you’ll love our workouts! CrossFit is all about constantly varied, high intensity, functional movements, which can all be scaled to your personal fitness level, while under the supervision of our experienced coaches. Gain strength, power, endurance, get in the best shape of your life, and have fun doing it! But CrossFit isn’t only about coming in and getting a great workout. Have we mentioned our community yet? It’s extremely important to us! Not only can you expect your physical fitness to reach new heights, you may also find yourself competing in CrossFit competitions or Spartan/Mud Run races with us. We also host many events throughout the year that bring our members together from holiday celebrations, beach days, bbq’s, paint n’ sip parties, and much more! At Crossfit Resolute we are family!

What do we offer?
In addition to our regular Crossfit classes, we also offer Olympic lifting technique classes, RomWod (a class designed to help you rehab and recover your sore muscles), Fit Kids classes, and nutritional guidance. Also, we are still offering our introductory rates and offer additional discounts to military, law enforcement/first responders, medical professionals, teachers, and family! Call us to find out more.
